about me
I’m Camilla Dongelmans, an art historian and certified paintings conservator based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I was trained at the University of Amsterdam, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. During my studies, I gained experience in researching and treating paintings on diverse supports. I hold a particular interest in the conservation of modern and contemporary paintings.
Within this website, you will find a compilation of my past and ongoing projects, along with reconstructions I have carried out, and workshops and conferences I have attended. Additionally, I share my personal experiences as an emerging paintings conservator in the field of cultural heritage.
In my conservation work, I aim to treat every painting to the highest standards, with noninvasive and reversible techniques and materials. The paintings are handled with care and precision while respecting the artist's intention and honouring the unique history of the object.
I am a member of Restauratoren Nederland and ICOM-CC and work in accordance with the European E.C.C.O guidelines and the A.I.C. Code of Ethics.
